DH-23ASY Duct Evaporative Cooler, 23000 m3/h

The DH-23ASY is the middle duct unit: more air than the 18000 for a larger zone, without stepping up to the 30000 unit's 3.0 kilowatts and larger body.

Against the 18000, the 23000 adds about a quarter more airflow for about a third more power, in a body only 10 millimetres wider and deeper. Against the 30000, it gives up airflow but keeps the smaller body and lower power. That middle position is why it suits a larger single zone — a bigger workshop bay, a longer packing line, a larger greenhouse section — where the 18000 would be stretched and the 30000 would be more machine than the zone needs. As with the whole series, the BP version changes only voltage and control: 220 volts with 12 LCD speeds instead of 380 volts manual.

Running the numbers

At full load, the 300-litre tank lasts 15 to 20 hours on the 23000 (300 litres divided by 15 to 20 litres per hour). At 12 hours a day, that is more than a day per tank at the low end and about a day and a quarter at the high end, before hotter days push consumption to the top of the range. Power at 1.5 kilowatts is 18 kilowatt-hours over a 12-hour day by multiplication of the stated figure. Use those two arithmetic results to plan the refill rota and the power budget, and treat them as planning figures, not as site promises — your climate and your setting will move them.

What to put in your inquiry for this model

• DH-23ASY or DH-23ASY/BP — and therefore 380 volts manual or 220 volts LCD.
• The zone: size, ceiling height, heat sources, and the duct route to it.
• The exhaust route for the air this unit pushes in.
• The water point, and who refills the tank on the rota you can staff.

Siting the DH-23ASY

Site this unit the way you would site the 18000, with one extra check: the 23000 moves more air, so its intake and exhaust matter more, not less. A larger airflow through a poor intake pulls in more of whatever is wrong with that intake — heat from a sun-baked wall, dust from a yard, fumes from a neighbouring process. Put the intake where the air is genuinely coolest, keep the duct route as straight and short as the zone allows, and leave service access around the 1100 by 1100 millimetre body. If the only available position fails any of those three tests, say so in the inquiry: a better position the supplier suggests is worth more than a quicker order.
